There are points on some chests where if you don’t start moving the cursor the immediately when you press D the lockpick instantly breaks and my timing isn’t that awful so something is kind of obviously weird about the the windows and safe zones. I think in the end whatever way in which the lock pick loses durability has way too many 100% damage events and not enough visual or audio cues to let you know you’re damaging the lock pick. Monastery doors were a good example of that to me. You’ll break a ton and then suddenly do it perfectly. I think the real issue is that the dead zone is way too small especially on harder chests. Though even on computer I feel like it’s very janky it feels like the dead zone will lag behind or get ahead of where it should be which involves you kind of randomly moving your mouse to find it again which causes that weird thing where the cursor keeps blinking in and out of the sweet spot and then the lock unlocks.Īlso I’m not sure if the way the cursor jitters during the minigame is intended or not but it’s definitely weird and kind of distracting. On console it’s tough because it’s just obviously designed to be done with a mouse and you’re not going to get that same kind of control with your thumb stuck. The millers usually have lockpicks, and I’m sorry I don’t remember who else besides Peshek that trains lockpicking.No he’s just trying a lock that is “too difficult” BUT I think there is a real problem with lock picking right now. My suggestion is to get some money if you haven’t already, get every resource you can that pertains to lockpicking and go for it. Right now my lockpicking is still low, but easy locks no longer give me trouble, I can open most of them in one shot. Then I went to the mill and picked Pesheks training chest till I couldn’t anymore, then set off to far flung areas where I knew there were easy or very easy locks and picked away. Then I spent an obscene amount of time running around the entire map looking for lockpicking trainers, books and lock picks. I spent the better part of 3-4 hours doing the following:įirst,I got money by doing bandit missions for Bernard, getting the reward money and selling all the bandits stuff.
When I read those topics I thought, yea right, I’ll never make it to level 3 lockpicking.(the height of my frustration)īut it is true what they say, the lockpicking does get easier when you hit level 3 in lockpicking. (I actually swore off lockpicking at one point lol)
I came to the forums and looked at topics after a particularly infuriating lockpick training. I’m on xbox and I know it can be frustrating to lockpick.
